David Rose is a fictional character on the TV sitcom Schitt's Creek played by Dan Levy, who also co-created and wrote for the show. The character was unique in that David displayed a fluid sexuality -ultimately marrying his business partner Patrick- and rarely encountered homophobia. In a touching early scene, David's friend Stevie asks him about his sexuality using a wine metaphor: does David prefer red (men) or white (women)?
